Members Fall Fun Day 2009

A day of fun, food, friends and dogs was designed to have a relaxing, "non-working" social event for our members. After the morning rained stopped, the day could not have been more pleasant. The idea was organized by Lisa to have games with dog/handler activity. There were several games of relay teams of three, and individual games that show-cased the dogs' obedience abilities and the handlers/owners coordination abilities! Laughter was in abundance and shared by all.

Dee and Judy welcomed everyone into their home and hosted the day's activities. Lisa provided gold, silver and bronze placements medallions for each game. Her generosity is greatly appreciated. A few guests were included and several breeds competed.

Everyone pitched in to have dinner, followed by a huge birthday celebration for several members with late September/ early October birthdays. Coleen had her sister make a cake to wish a Happy Birthday to Ellen, Shirley, Debbie and Judy.

A general club meeting completed our day with guests Laureen and John attending. The winners are listed and please enjoy the photos! Until next year, as it was unanimous to make this an annual event!

Square to Square relay - a game of taking 3 steps, placing a paper plate and getting the dog to sit on the plate, continuing the course and handing off to the next team members...

Silver - team of "Bea", "Lily" (pointer) and "Ollie"
Bronze - team of "Journey" (Irish Setter), "Claire" (Irish) and "Candy" (English Cocker)

Water Relay - starting with a full cup of water in the same hand as the lead, running the course and the team with the most water left won.

Silver - team of "James, "Francis" and "Gurney"
Bronze - team of "Bea", "Lily" and "Ollie"

Spoon & Ball Relay - a wiffle ball on a spoon and running the course with the dog and keeping the ball on the spoon...

Fastest recall - from a distance of 20 feet to owner
