Meet the Breeds to
benefit the Four Legged Food Drive Who would have thought that a small idea of holding a Meet the Breeds would
escalate into such a successful event? Dee wanted to hold an event at the Bob
Evans where she is General manager. Judy picked up a flier at her job about an
organization holding a Four Legged Food Drive....and the whole event idea just
took off! The day was sunny and pleasant. Coleen was able to round up some
different breeds we have not had at one of our Meet the Breed days. Along with
our Irish ( Creed, Wagner, Callie, Bea, Journey, Dewey and Willie), we had the
Spinone, Great Dane, English Cocker, pointer, golden retriever, scot terrier,
Corgi and a Glen of Imaal terrier. We raffled off several baskets and dogs beds, pumpkins, both small and HUGE,
that Lisa painted faces on, fall centerpieces that Lisa's mom made and
donated...just a lot of beautiful and fun fall items! The local fire department
came and went over safety and the care of fire extinguishers. We took photos
with the dogs..some guests having their photo taken with a "breed of choice".
Bob Evans donated a free dessert to everyone who gave a donation of any kind. By the end of our day, we collected over 2013 lbs. of pet food, making this
fund raiser for a charity by far, the most successful we have done. The food was
delivered to Camp Bow Wow and Sherry Johnson, an advocate for Best Friends.
Sherry was taking the food to Ella's Pet Pantry to be distributed to those in
need. GTISC thanks everyone involved that helped to organize our event in advance and those who came and spent the day. We ended our day with dinner at Bob Evans......THANK YOU!
